Social Marketing is about ACTION: targeted specific behavioral change. I am curious if you think that when applied to CR or peacebuilding -it can become a social engineering? Can we force people to be peaceful? Is offering incentives that are difficult to say no to (education, food, $, development) be a form of manipulation? OR… is basing our peacebuilding programs on the exchange theory: which states that everyone will act on their own self-interest – the best way to come to a peaceful resolution in the midst of violent conflict. Is it a necessary evil in this context? Is there a better way?
